Speed the Wheel evolved from my passion for motorcycles and literature. The intent was to create an on-line lounge where readers and motorcycle enthusiasts could enjoy the eclectic array of articles, essays, and features I’ve created over the years as a motorcycle journalist.
The seed for creating alternative motorcycle content unfolded many years ago when I traveled to Spain to retrace the very real route of the fictional Don Quixote. The subsequent article, “A Man in La Mancha,” was as much about history as it was about motorcycles.
Published in Cycle World, MCN (UK), and Overland Journal the piece received a surprisingly warm reception, convincing me there were readers who appreciated this style of moto-journalism. Since then I have strived to wordsmith pieces that delve into a variety of themes.
Presented here on Speed the Wheel is a personal collage of writings—long, short, sometimes focused, often meandering—that span a career as a freelance “moto-journo.” I hope you enjoy.
